While travelling in Asia people constantly asked where I got my (hand-made) hammock from; that led to commissions from people wanting their own hammock which led to the creation of Well Hung Hammocks. Now we've expanded I can't make all of the hammocks myself, but I have been working with the same small team for over 15 years in certified Fair Trade units. I design the styles and colours I want and oversee the whole production, right through to finishing and quality control. I import the hammocks myself (even going to collect them from the port in a van!) so we can offer our workers a decent wage yet still keep the costs down for our customers. As all of my hammocks are hand-sourced and made to my colours and specifications, they are not only fair trade, but also unique.
My main aim is to create beautiful, affordable, ethical hammocks so I can spread the word about how amazing and relaxing hammocks are. I want everyone to love hammocks as much as I do.
Other than the production team, I mainly work on my own with occasional sales staff at events. I like to keep things personal so I can genuinely enthuse to people about hammocks - as anybody who has been to my markets and met me will tell you!
We have had a regular stall at Camden Lock Market in London, UK for many years. It is closed at the moment but we hope to reopen very soon and you can come there and see, try and buy our lovely hammocks. We also sell at other events and festivals around Britain so even more people get chance to feel how comfortable a hammock is!
We try to make your whole hammock experience as pleasant as possible and pride ourselves on our customer service. We genuinely love hammocks and use them regularly ourselves and we'll advise you honestly so you can choose a hammock that’s right for your needs - we want you to use your hammock, not stuff it in a cupboard! All hammocks have different qualities and all feel different to lie in but all of our hammocks are safe and comfortable. Most of the hammock tips we have learned are included in this website but if you have any questions, just ask!
Hanging a hammock really doesn't have to be difficult and I try to make it possible for everyone if you tell me your circumstances. I'm happy for you to phone me or send me photos or measurements of your space so I can give you ideas of how, where and which hammock will suit you best.
